Untold work story privacy policy
Last updated: Sep 2026
At Untold Work Stories™, we believe stories deserve to be treated with care, and so does the information people share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Untold work stories (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects through our website, why we collect it, how we use it and the choices you have about your information.
1. Information we collect
When you share a story with us
You can choose whether you would like to share your story anonymously or whether you are open to being identified if we develop or publish it.
Depending on the choices you make when submitting your story, we may ask you to provide:
your full name;
your email address;
your country;
your preference about remaining anonymous or being identified; and
the story or information you choose to submit.
If you provide contact information, we may use it to receive and manage your submission and to communicate with you about your story where appropriate.
Providing your name or contact information does not automatically mean that your identity will be published.
Please do not include confidential information, sensitive personal information about other people, or information that you do not have the right to share in a story submission.
If you join the Untold Work Stories community
If you choose to join the Untold Work Stories community, we may collect information such as your name, email address and country so that we can manage your participation and communicate with you about the community.
If you subscribe to Untold work stories emails

Our website may automatically collect certain information about how visitors use it, including information about your browser, device, network, IP address, pages visited, interactions with the site and referring pages.
We use this information to operate the website, understand how it is being used and improve the Untold Work Stories experience.
2. How we use your information
We may use the personal information we collect to:
receive, review and manage stories you submit;
respect and manage your preferences about anonymity and identification;
contact you about your submission where appropriate;
manage your participation in the Untold Work Stories community;
discuss opportunities to develop your story further, where you have provided contact information;

We will not use your email address to send you marketing or newsletter communications unless you have chosen to receive them.
3. Stories you submit
Stories about working life can involve other people, workplaces and experiences. We ask everyone who contributes to Untold Work Stories to share thoughtfully and respectfully.
Please do not include the real names of colleagues, managers, clients or other individuals, or information that could unnecessarily identify them. Please also avoid naming organisations, clients or workplaces where doing so could identify the people involved.
Do not submit confidential employer or client information, trade secrets, sensitive personal information about another person, or information that you do not have the right to share.
Untold Work Stories may change names and other identifying details, anonymise information, combine or fictionalise elements, and edit submissions to protect the privacy of the people involved and to fit our editorial approach.
We also ask contributors to avoid content intended to harass, humiliate, threaten, discriminate against or deliberately cause harm to another person.
Submitting a story does not mean that it will be published. Untold Work Stories retains editorial discretion over which submissions we choose to develop or publish.
If we would like to use, edit, fictionalise, adapt or publish your submission, its use will also be governed by our Story Submission Terms and any additional permissions we request from you.
4. Anonymous and named stories
You can choose whether you would like your story to remain anonymous or whether you are open to being identified if we develop or publish it.
If you choose to remain anonymous
We will not intentionally publish your name or identify you in connection with your story without your permission.
We may edit, anonymise or fictionalise details in your submission to further protect your identity and the identities of other people or organisations involved.
If you provide an email address or other contact information so that we can communicate with you, your contact information will not be published simply because you submitted a story.
If you are open to being identified
Telling us that you are comfortable with your name being associated with your story does not automatically give Untold Work Stories permission to publish your identity.
If we decide that we would like to develop or publish your story using your name or other identifying information, we will contact you and ask for your consent before doing so.
5. Interviews, podcasts, videos and other identifiable content
Sometimes we may contact contributors whose stories we would like to explore further.
This could include inviting you to participate in an interview, podcast, video, written feature, social content or another Untold Work Stories format.
We will not use your name, voice, image or other identifying information in this type of content solely because you submitted a story or indicated that you may be comfortable being identified.
Before creating or publishing identifiable content, we will explain the proposed use and obtain any additional consent or permissions required.
You are free to decide whether you would like to participate.

We only send promotional Untold Work Stories emails to people who have chosen to receive them.
