Story submission terms
Stiry submission terms
Thank you for trusting Untold Work Stories™ with your story.
These Story Submission Terms explain what happens when you submit a story, experience, idea or other content (“Submission”) to Untold Work Stories (“we”, “us” or “our”).
By submitting a story, you agree to these terms.Tell us what happened, in your own way
You don't need to be a writer. You don't need a perfectly structured story either.
Tell us about the moment, experience or feeling that stayed with you. Write as much or as little as you need to.
1. Your story remains yours
You retain ownership of the original content you submit to us.
By submitting it, you give Untold Work Stories permission to review and consider your Submission and, if we choose to develop it, to edit, shorten, anonymise, fictionalise, adapt, reproduce and publish it as part of Untold Work Stories content.
This permission allows us to develop your Submission into different editorial and storytelling formats, which may include written stories, social content, audio, video and other Untold Work Stories formats.
We may change names, organisations, locations, timelines and other identifying details, or combine or fictionalise elements, to protect privacy and fit our editorial approach.
Submitting a story does not guarantee that it will be developed or published.
2. You can choose to remain anonymous
When you submit your story, you can tell us whether you would like to remain anonymous or whether you are open to being identified.
If you choose to remain anonymous, we will not intentionally publish your name or identify you in connection with your story without your permission.
If you tell us that you are open to being identified, this does not automatically give us permission to publish your identity.
If we would like to publish your name, photograph, voice or other identifying information, we will contact you first and obtain any additional consent or permissions required.
3. If we'd like to tell more of your story
Sometimes a submission may lead to a bigger conversation.
We may contact you about participating in an interview, podcast, video, written feature, social content or another Untold Work Stories format.
You are under no obligation to participate.
Where additional content would identify you, we will explain what we would like to create and how it may be used, and obtain your consent before proceeding.
4. Please only share what you have the right to share
By submitting a story, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge:
the Submission is based on your own experiences, thoughts or perspectives, or you otherwise have the right to share it;
you have not knowingly included confidential employer or client information, trade secrets, private documents or other information you are not permitted to disclose;
you have taken reasonable care not to unnecessarily identify colleagues, managers, clients or other people; and
your Submission is not intended to harass, threaten, humiliate, discriminate against or deliberately harm another person.
Please remember that changing someone's name alone may not make them unidentifiable. Details about their role, employer, location, project or circumstances can sometimes reveal who they are.
5. We may edit or fictionalise submissions
Untold Work Stories is an editorial storytelling platform.
If we choose to develop your Submission, we may edit its wording, structure, length or presentation. We may also anonymise, combine or fictionalise elements, including characters, organisations, locations, timelines and identifying details.
We may do this to protect privacy, improve the storytelling or create a story that fits the Untold Work Stories editorial approach.
We will not knowingly change a Submission with the intention of misrepresenting you or causing harm.
6. Publication is our editorial decision
We appreciate every story shared with us, but we cannot promise that every Submission will be developed, responded to or published.
Untold Work Stories decides which stories and ideas to develop, how they are presented and where they appear.
We may also decide not to publish a Submission or to remove or stop using content where we consider it appropriate.
7. Where your story may appear
If we develop and publish a Submission, Untold Work Stories content may appear on our website, social media channels, newsletters, podcasts, video or audio platforms, promotional materials and other channels through which Untold Work Stories publishes or promotes its content.
The way a story is used will depend on the format and any additional permissions agreed with you.
8. Requests about your submission
If you change your mind after submitting a story, contact us as soon as possible at contact@untoldworkstories.com.
If your Submission has not yet been developed or published, we will consider requests to withdraw it.
Once content has been created, published, distributed or shared through third-party platforms, it may not always be possible to completely withdraw or remove every copy. Where applicable, any additional consent or contributor agreement we have entered into with you will also apply.
9. Your personal information
Any personal information you provide with your Submission will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Choosing to receive Untold Work Stories emails is separate from submitting a story. We will not add you to promotional email communications simply because you submitted a story unless you separately choose to receive them.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Story Submission Terms as Untold Work Stories evolves.
The terms that apply to your Submission will be those presented to you when you submit it, together with any additional permissions or agreements subsequently made with you.
